I must say you have energy, working on this many blogs. This one sounds fun.
Btw, is that you somewhere in the pic?
feartheseeds // January 24, 2007 at 4:28 am
Energy… we’ll see. If I have to resort to Red Bull then maybe I’ll slow it down.
The people on this page are friends of mine… left to right is Steve, Darell and Sam. I think the bartender’s name was Carla or Carly… I remember her being very, very funny. That’s me (Johnny Metro) on the top of the first post (click on ‘Enjoy’).
I should have a big “Under Construction” banner somewhere, I just started fooling around with this idea earlier this morning (this is a 2am thing), so you’re the first poster on this version. Welcome, welcome.

This is excellent. And thankyou for the shinty/hockey thing.
Wish I’d watched it last night I may have dreamed about six foot four highland men running around in shorts in almost sub zero temperatures and risking getting their jaws smashed in order to compete in the fine game. Shame it was only tricks. Would have been nice to see the reall hard stuff, would have needed a proper death metal track though.
But yeah…you’ve convinced me. Canadians Rock. Though with so many of you decended from celts and vikings so its hardly surprising.
Where I’m from everyone says aboot…its nicer.
See on Tuesday then. Assuming they can find Celine Dion to come and sing at your bedside.
Isn’t that how your lovely free health service

wakes people from comas these days?

(well it would make me want to wake up just to get her to bloody shut up!)

Hey there. very very neat. Your hard work is showing. I think this blog can go places. You have positioned it well. Guess my GK about Canadian politics is about to take off! But how often do you plan to post?
feartheseeds // January 29, 2007 at 11:22 pm
Thanks Nita. Depending on potential hopitalization for exhaustion, and how long the sugar/stimulant high from my Red Bull/Chocolate Ice Cream Floats last, I plan on making this a four-post per week operation.

Queen Minx // March 21, 2007 at 1:16 pm
I LOVE your new CC licence pic … I want one!!
xxx
feartheseeds // March 21, 2007 at 7:19 pm
Did you want that one specifically, or do you have one of yourself all pissed off and pointing that you can use?
I took the owl photo off my “POTM” (top right-hand corner widjit), but if you still want the story… my grandparents had a hobby farm back in the mountains of Quebec. Very isolated. When I was eight or nine my grandfather built an extension to the farmhouse for a master bedroom. The second floor was an open space that was turned into a “playroom” for my brother and I… basically it was where they put us if we were being too loud and it was too late or too cold to throw us outside. There was one light, and that was above the staircase at one end. The other end of the room is where they had two giant stuffed owls. One a Snowy Owl (wingspan: 5.5ft) the other a Great Horned Owl (wingspan: 4ft). They had glass eyes. Which reflected the light. Which made them look alive. We never named them because we were scared sh*tless of them. There was also a mounted white wolf, which is a massive animal, up there as well. Which, not too suprisingly, also scared my younger brother and I w*tless. What was really fun was when the real wolves would start howling and yipping in the back fields. Good times.

Hey … I am loving, loving your site … all these new pics … it’s like visiting a Gallery!
And … I haven’t got a pointy finger pic … but I have got one of me cross-eyed, which is pretty scary … I will mail it to you, and if it scares the beejeezoos outta ya, then it’ll do fer me!
Oh … and, just on the off-chance … does your Grandad still have that stuffed wolf … or was it just the head … you know, just asking … not that I would do ‘anything’ with it … it’s not like I have a ‘thing’ for wolves or owt like that … I mean, come on, as if I would sit on it’s back naked! … or, if it’s just the head, it’s not like I would ’sleep’ with it and kiss it and stroke it …. or … anything … sheesh!
So … your Grandad’s phone number is …??
wink!
xx
Queen Minx // March 22, 2007 at 6:54 am

feartheseeds // March 22, 2007 at 7:34 am
“Hey … I am loving, loving your site … all these new pics … it’s like visiting a Gallery!”
Doesn’t Nita look awesome? I think this is one of my better ideas, blog-wise or just design-wise. I’m going to submit the idea to WordPress to see if they can make some kind of Super RSS Widjit that we can put photos into.
The wolf, which is massive, isn’t really mounted so that you could mount it… it’s more of a wall thing. The head, which is truly massive, is still attached as are the feet (massive) and claws (massive). It is currently on the wall of the staircase to my parents attic/office. It would be very possible to take it down and sleep on it. I think it’s around thirty-five or forty years old now.
Send me lots (more) photos and I will find something I can use to create your Creative Commons widjit with.

And … definitely get in touch with wordpress aboot this new idea for RSS feeds … do you get copywrite do you think ???

Okay … will mail you the cross-eyed pic later!

feartheseeds // March 22, 2007 at 9:20 am
Nita, you and Puddle yes, but I don’t know aboot “all”… that “Salted L*th*um” dude looks like a bit of a punk.
I think I’ve spent two days putting my sidebar together, it’s almost as much fun as… actually, maybe it’s more fun than actually working on the blog itself.
I think I’m going to get rid of most of those “Blogging Alliance” things. They don’t really make any sense. It’s just random words in point form. Like “1337haxor”… what is there aboot that which would make someone click on it? Or “Andrew Spicer”… who the f*ck is Andrew Spicer and why should I read his blog? I guess editing it’ll give me something to do for the next couple of days.
I look forward to seeing the cross-eyed you. I think you’d look ad*rable all pissed off and angry. Not so much after you hit me three or four times with your blinding MancNinja speed punches, because then I’d be unconscious. But right up until then, definitely ad*rable.
Queen Minx // March 22, 2007 at 9:40 am
That Salted L*th*um dude is the cutest … if he lived near me, I would be speaking to his parents aboot arranging a marriage to my daughter! Mind you, that photo looks like it was taken a good few years back … I wonder if he has any sons!
I think you might have the cross-eyed one … it’s when I am blonde and it’s in B&W?
Don’t worry aboot the MancNinja punches … we only go for the soft bits … we like you to remain conscious while we hit you … it’s much more fun listening to the groans of agony … like a soundtrack of pain!

Apart from all the help and encouragement you have given me, your writing is an inspiration for me.
Just wondering if I’ll ever get my brain back enough to write interesting and intellectual articles like you do.

Your site looks great by the way. I think you’re being a little hard on yourself when it comes to your writing. The stuff you’ve written over the past few posts have been as interesting as back when you were writing aboot the disease, but it seems like you’re starting to have fun with the blog. Holy Jesus, how long did it take to get there? I think I mailed that box back in February. Now that I know how the system works the next one won’t take nearly as long. The maple syrup is on the way this week… of course, it being food it’ll probably get to you by Labour Day. But I’ll pay for the airfare this time instead of my last system which was basically just leaving it on a bus station bench and offering it my best wishes.
puddlejumper // May 3, 2007 at 7:13 am
Holy Jesus indeed. I just checked the postmark and it says you sent it 14th March! Seriously!
The Canada Post motto reads “From anywhere…to anyone” They should amend that to “…Eventually”
However. It was worth waiting for.
You are a sweetheart.
(when is labour day?…we don’t have that here)
feartheseeds // May 3, 2007 at 7:17 am
September 1st. It’s a union thing so Thatcher probably had yours cancelled. The person behind the Post desk told me “it could be more than two weeks” because I wasn’t paying for the premium service… I guess they were right. I hope the size was right. I usually guesstimate a little over. Next time I’ll pay for the premium. Oh… I was lying about the whole “there is no shirt” thing.

I like your version better. I was actually volunteering for the Historical Society’s Museum project and lifting heavy crap, so exactly the opposite of how my day was supposed to go. Yesterday I helped move (re: lifted heavy stuff) aboot a hundred or so 2×8 boards from one spot to another very similar spot several yards away, and today I just got finished putting in 160 patio stones for the path to the stairs.
I’m pretty sure I have sun stroke and I can’t bend my spine anymore… but, hey, free passes for all my friends when the Museum opens.

absolut.folly // May 25, 2007 at 3:11 am
btw. the Lariam story on Salted was disturbing.
I thought it was common knowledge that it can make you cuckoo (that _is_ professional terminology, I had a prof who used it). Why do they still prescribe it??!!??
feartheseeds // May 25, 2007 at 3:14 am
I’m not sure they do prescribe it… at least not at the same levels. I could be wrong. That “lebank” person took it back in 2001. I was planning on doing a post on the Airborne eventually.
“If I manage my glucose in bed” sounds much cooler. What aboot the other “stuff”? Maybe email would be better for the privacy thing… but you were in that thing at that university you went to that one time when you were in that country that starts with a C…
absolut.folly // May 25, 2007 at 3:18 am
email is probably not a bad idea. if for nothing else, this must be a terribly boring read for anybody else.
are you talking about the study I participated in when in that university etc. ?
absolut.folly // May 25, 2007 at 3:21 am
a quick check reveals that Lariam is still on the market in at least Finland and Sweden.
paranoia, hallucinations etc. are listed as “fairly common” side effects…
great, people are supposed to just play russian roulette.
feartheseeds // May 25, 2007 at 3:23 am
“… just play russian roulette, in bed.” See?
This is my blog, if “they’re” (and that’s a substantial assumption) getting bored either “they” can get “their” own or “they” can start putting “in bed” after every sentence… I think “they” is you, me, my brother, Jesus and, occasionally, Louise. The Study… I remember that being a pretty important thing you were doing for yourself.
absolut.folly // May 25, 2007 at 3:33 am
I just sent you a mail. but to make this a little bit more amusing for any potential readers (the fore mentioned or other); the study was on impact of hormone levels on bone density.
The interesting part for us subjects, was to get our hormone cycles mapped.
And in the end I got to know that my bone density was “within normal limits”. But there wasn’t much else to it.
absolut.folly // May 25, 2007 at 3:34 am

feartheseeds // May 25, 2007 at 3:43 am
A symptom of alcoholism maybe… any Saviour bringing wine to my door right now is My saviour. Hormone… yeah, that does look weird right now. But… you’re saying the ENGLISH language has weird words? How many consonants again in your language? 600?
I’ll go check my email… I have to get a little writing done so me and my Dr. O have something to talk aboot… (hi Dr. O)… and I’m really hungry all of a sudden. I left a note for you over on the Photo page. See you later… in bed [insert smiley/winking emoticon here].

absolut.folly // May 25, 2007 at 3:58 am
and yes, the English language has weird spelling. In Finnish, everyting is pronounced exactly like it’s written. There are no silent ‘e’s and such.
Noam Chomsky proved my point a long time ago, when he illustrated how the word “fish” might as well be spelled “ghoti”.

senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 1:39 pm
duhr, the name’s still new. Don’t you owe me a knock knock joke? I do believe I was promised a knock knock joke. Is Osaren unconscious in the photo?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:41 pm
Grand Theft Auto… oh how disillusional. why no lie and say “writing sonnets” instead…
Wanna play listing-things-of-four?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:41 pm
oh yes. Osaren’s fast asleep. Too much weed probably.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:42 pm
ok, knock knock
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 1:44 pm
Carl Johnson, the main character in GTA” San Andreas” is one of this generations great thinkers. I used to put up CJ/GTA quotes on all my posts. Funny stuff… what is a “listing-things-of-four”?
Who’s there…?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:45 pm
Moo
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 1:46 pm
Moo, who?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:47 pm
Well, make up your mind, are you a cow or an owl?
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 1:49 pm
You’re laughing so hard your chest hurts right now, aren’t you?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:53 pm
Listing things of four (example):
“Favourite Sounds”
1. Certain people’s laughter
2. The sea (waves against rocks)
3. The Ice Cream Truck
4. Train wheels on railroad tracks
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 1:54 pm
Is this an example or do you want mine?
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 1:54 pm
Never mind, pick a topic…
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:54 pm
no. not really (laughing so hard). I only know really really crappy knock knock jokes, but the repertoire is endless.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:56 pm
You can give yours, or chose a new topic.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 1:57 pm
Okay, wait a minute…
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 1:59 pm
60, 59, 58…
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:01 pm
Favourite Sounds…
1. The pffft when I open a new bottle of Diet P*psi.
2. When I sit down in my leather chair
3. Pen on paper… ballpoint only.
4. typwriter keys.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:06 pm
next topic:
Four things that sucked this weekend
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:06 pm
That’s a pretty specific list… okay, give me a minute or three.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Actually the answers could have been pretty general… like:
1. People continue to die in Darfur
2. No cure for AIDS
3. Golf
4. War.
1. missed out on seeing a movie with a friend
2. Didn’t write as much as I wanted
3. it was cold for most of it and I still don’t want to turn the heat on…
4. Golf.
It was actually a pretty good weekend.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:13 pm
here’s my list
1. Gay rights demonstration in Russia was sabotaged by police.
2. My brother got beaten up (down town 4:30am Sunday morning) and had to go to the hospital.
3. I was sick and unable to get anything done.
4. It rained all weekend.
5. Lost out on a great birthday party (because I’m here and not in TO).
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:15 pm
AIDS, 3d world starvation, racism, genocide etc. are given ones.
golf???
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:16 pm
ok. it’s now official I can’t count (see previous post).
Here’s the next one, and this is much much harder:
Four things that were good this weekend.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:17 pm
There are days when I really fucking hate golf.
Wow, your weekend sucked. Okay, you won that round. How’s your brother?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:20 pm
he’s ok. but really really upset. he’s going in for debriefing tomorrow. I think that he’s freaked out that something like this could happen to him in his “comfort zone”.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:22 pm
Things That Didn’t Suck:
1. Spent time with my grandfather (if you count Friday as a weekend day)*
2. BBQ with friends
3. worked outside (finished the stone wall)
4. had a really good time sleeping two nights in a row.
*If Friday doesn’t count then this is my number one:
1. I didn’t get AIDS, I didn’t experience 3d world starvation or racism and I played no active roll in killing off a species or cultural group.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:41 pm
here’s mine,
1. my brother’s alive
2. our street smells of mowed lawn (summer’s in the air)
3. got to see the most amazing thunderstorm on Sunday night
4. …but we’re still here
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:43 pm
ps. of course Friday counts, the weekend begins on Friday. And over here, Sunday’s not the first day of the week, but the last.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:47 pm
I like your number four but, see, now I should have put “my brother’s still alive” as my number three… I’m assuming we’re ranking them in order of importance. One more round then I have to go to the store, I’m out of noodles.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:52 pm
I’m going to fry some minute steak. Wanna come over?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:54 pm
the direction of the order of importance varies. Sometimes 1 is most important, sometimes it’s 4.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:55 pm
3200 miles for a steak? Yeah, sure. I’ll bring a salad.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:56 pm
My brother being alive would’ve been a three either way.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 2:56 pm
and some times all four are equally important. like in my last list.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 2:59 pm
Wait… a minute, be right back
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:01 pm
60, 59, 58, 57…
[I fixed it for you]
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 3:04 pm
I was trying to make a Top Four Thing out of Moomintrolls, but the only one I could think of was book titles… so how’s this instead:
Four Favourite Days.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 3:15 pm
…56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:17 pm
hey. my counting was supposed to show up after your “wait a minute”!!!
did you switch them around?
[I fixed it for you]
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 3:18 pm
Nope… hey, did you know there are two of you on facebook?
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:26 pm
really (face book)? didn’t know.
do you still have the book?
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Which… do you mean the Moomin thing? “Moominland Midwinter”? I do indeed still have it…
Okay… how aboot “Four Things You Can See From Your Closest Window”.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:31 pm
I might have met her (the other me on face book).
There are at least 3 people in Finland with the same name, and probably a bus load in Sweden.
I met one (of the Finnish) once, but that was like 15 years ago.
Last year this guy called me on Saturday night, and we had a really long confusing conversation until we realized that I wasn’t the person he wanted to talk to. He’d gotten the number from the directory service.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 3:33 pm
One of you works for the Finnish Red Cross as well… then there’s the poet.
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 3:38 pm
You have waaay more friends than the other you on face book.
Four Things From My Closest Window
1. Lilac trees in bloom.
2. Gas station.
3. the Laurentian Mountain Range
4. The Ottawa River.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:39 pm
Midwinter’s the most melancholic one. I have to get you “Moominsummer Madness” next.
Listing:
“Four Things You Can See From Your Closest Window”
1. a Jaguar (the car, not the animal unfortunately).
2. most of the airplanes approaching the Helsinki international from the south. In the evening it’s beautiful when you have the lights getting closer every 4 minutes.
3. a lamp post that usually sports a sea gull as an accessory
4. an assorted selection of trees
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:40 pm
the Finnish Red Cross was me. that’s an old page still hanging around. did a project for them 05-06.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:42 pm
I have to take a break and fry that darn steak (tomorrow’s lunch).
senators in six. // May 28, 2007 at 3:48 pm
Weird aboot the Red Cross thing… I have to go hunt noodles. I’ll send you an email later on… but not too later on.
absolut.folly // May 28, 2007 at 3:53 pm
please do, and explain what’s weird about the RC.
Justin Mohareb // June 3, 2007 at 11:10 pm
Are you using the Facebook?
senators in six. // June 3, 2007 at 11:39 pm
Not really. I opened an alias account just to see what it was aboot, but it looks like it’s just a combination of the worst parts of a chat room, with the laziest applications of a blog… and I already have two blogs, four email accounts, a home phone and a post office box I can barely keep up with, so I don’t see a point beyond “everybody else is doin’ it”. Plus, if people want to find me all they have to do is a google search.
Justin Mohareb // June 7, 2007 at 8:54 am
Well, I guess that’s it for the Sens this year. Always next year, eh?
That’s sort of a mantra for Toronto fans, too.
feartheseeds // June 8, 2007 at 12:27 am
Next year’s for the 28 teams that watched the playoffs from the nineteenth hole…
Justin Mohareb // June 8, 2007 at 10:02 am
Of course. They can proudly carry their second place statue.
feartheseeds // June 8, 2007 at 12:56 pm
Actually, it’s more of a certificate…
absolut.folly // June 8, 2007 at 2:36 pm
knock knock
darn, WP doesn’t let me knock again.
feartheseeds // June 8, 2007 at 6:51 pm
With my knee and ankle all messed up, Yahoo and Flickr jerking me around and Paris Hilton going back to jail I could use a decent knock knock joke…
absolut.folly // June 9, 2007 at 3:38 am
well, when I try to knock WP tells me it seems I’ve already “posted this message”…
Tyranny.
feartheseeds // June 9, 2007 at 4:35 am
We have to get you an avatar… if you double click “submit” when posting a message, or the message hasn’t been posted when you “submit” another one, WP reacts badly. Or you could just number them… make the next one “knock knock flirp” then “knock knock florppy” (where “flirp” is the Finnish equivilent of “six” and “florppy” is seven…).
absolut.folly // June 9, 2007 at 5:03 am
ok. where do I apply for an avatar?
absolut.folly // June 9, 2007 at 5:03 am
knock knock (yksi)
feartheseeds // June 9, 2007 at 6:26 am
Who’s there?
(sorry for taking so long, I was writing a thing over at the other place… an avatar is easy. I’ll set it up, but you have to send me an image of something you’d like to see beside your name… for example, I have an avatar of a devil jumping out of my pants.)
…it’s 7.30am and I’m going to bed. If you get a chance to take a break feel free to let me know who was at the door.
absolut.folly // June 9, 2007 at 9:02 am
Hawaii
(was at the door)
Sorry. I was doing stuff in the kitchen, and I thought you’d already gone to bed.
absolut.folly // June 9, 2007 at 1:07 pm
ps.
why don’t you pick an avatar for me?
absolut.folly // June 11, 2007 at 12:05 pm
knock knock (12,387)
feartheseeds // June 11, 2007 at 3:16 pm
Who’s there? (12,388)
absolut.folly // June 11, 2007 at 3:23 pm
Hawaii (again)
feartheseeds // June 11, 2007 at 3:29 pm
Hawaii, who? (this is my first time, be gentle)
absolut.folly // June 11, 2007 at 3:32 pm
I’m fine, Hawaii you?
absolut.folly // June 11, 2007 at 3:33 pm
ps.
I just sent you an email.
feartheseeds // June 11, 2007 at 3:38 pm
I’m doing fine… my foot, ankle and knee seem to be healing and I just got a half-n-half from the dentist — half good news (only one little cavity) and half bad news (I might need two teeth pulled unless some dental surgeon can pull off a miracle of engineering and architecture). Good times.
ps: I’m going to check my email now.
absolut.folly // June 17, 2007 at 5:49 am
Did you ever get the post card (snail mail) that I sent you?
Or has Canada Post claimed yet another victim?
Hope you are having a good Sunday.
I am: We are going to see Ocean’s 13 … Mmmm… George Cloony… yum..
feartheseeds // June 18, 2007 at 1:18 am
I just got it… I haven’t been to the post office this week so I don’t know when it came in. So which one is the “summer” photo?
absolut.folly // June 18, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Couldn’t you tell? ;-)
The card clearly displayed the Four Distinctive Seasons in Helsinki.
absolut.folly’s Helsinki is coming to you soon.
absolut.folly // June 18, 2007 at 12:39 pm
now where’s my avatar?
absolut.folly // June 21, 2007 at 5:04 pm
knock knock (1 455 332)
feartheseeds // June 21, 2007 at 5:11 pm
